Contemplations From The Divide derived from a recent mountain bike track adventure across a series of mountain ridges extending from Alaska to Mexico that form the watershed of North America. Most of the track runs along peaks of the Rocky Mountains and is often called the Great Divide in the United States. It is without coincidence that the landscape and philosophical underpinnings of this natural wonder became the inspiration for Lincoln’s new paintings.
“Given my relationship to divided cultures, geography, and dispositions it was with great intention that I decided to traverse this daunting expedition. Having ridden my bicycle across the United States during the summer of 2001, I thought I was well prepared for this adventure. However, this was a wholly different experience.” – TED LINCOLN
