Biography
A forensic photographer in her former life, MELISSA POWELL was endorsed
in her current career as an aerial photographer by winning the 2012
International Photography Award, New York and receiving five honourable mentions in 2013.
Her photography of the Wimmera landscape is entirely untouched by post production editing. Powell is facinated by the idea of space and the ever changing landscape of the Australian environment.
"I’m constantly drawn to photographing these changes from above, capturing the earth’s paintings whether natural or man-made, and the remnants of the past that exist in the current state. The majority of these images were photographed in the Wimmera area, halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide, where I have found my home for the past twelve years — it’s big sky country, but for me the allure has always been the land." - MELISSA POWELL 2013
