This body of work reflects my fascination of human connection, our interactions with our immediate
space and the people we share it with. I have sought to create a body of work that is centred on the
subtle indefinable moments which occur during mediative and contemplative states. I wish for the
works to evoke the notions of 'connectedness' and 'unity,' for them to interact with their surrounding
environment as well as its inhabitants and to negotiate their existence with the immediate space.
I aspire to create elegant glass forms which are assembled into evocative groups suggesting
expansion and flow through the sum of their parts. The simplistic forms are transformed into abstract
notations where the episodic use of pattern, rhythm and texture rather than colour creates an
atmosphere that is mediative and contemplative. This series has been designed to celebrate the
interplay of light and form, of substance and shadow and to explore the subtle abstract relationships
that exist between negative spaces and positive forms.
